Strong leadership has been the trademark of Alpha Xi Delta since 1893. Our Fraternity thrives today because of the bold, talented women who are present and past National Council members.
As the executive and policy-making body of Alpha Xi Delta, National Council represents and acts for the Fraternity in all matters between meetings of the National Chapter. National Council provides leadership, oversight and guidance to fulfill the Fraternity’s vision (Inspiring women to realize their potential) and mission (To enrich the life of every Alpha Xi Delta).
One way (out of many!), that National Council continues to make history for Alpha Xi Delta is the Installation and Reinstallation of chapters. National Council casts the deciding vote for which opportunities the Fraternity pursues when it comes to opening and reopening chapters. Although this decision sometimes is difficult, it also reaps many benefits such as:
- New members joining our Sisterhood
- Giving collegiate women a chance to make history and leave a legacy on their campus
- Reengaging alumnae Sisters with the Fraternity through reunions and volunteer appointments to assist new chapters
- Fostering successful partnership with our host institutions
“The opportunity to install a chapter is always a very special experience. It allows us, as National Council members, to get to know the new women coming into our Sisterhood on a deeper level and allows us to be part of history right alongside them,” said Michele Herbst Evink, National President.
If making a difference in the future of Alpha Xi Delta and setting the vision for the next biennium sounds like a challenge you (or a fellow Sister!) are up for, please consider putting in a nomination for National Council by February 15.
