Common Sense Studio was established in 2016 by Laura Wasley & Emma Purdie as a design studio that combines humour and realism within their work. The studio is engaged in all disciplines of design in a responsible and purposeful way.
Printed by the sea, Common Sense Studio also runs an open access print studio which is based within Ocean Studios in the historic Royal William Yard in Plymouth. The studio is the only open access print studio in Plymouth. They provide affordable screen printing and printmaking facilities, services and workshops which give artists and makers the space to be able to undertake their own work.
The studio houses a wide range of printing facilities including screen beds, a t-shirt carousel, washout room and exposure unit alongside an Intaglio press and relief press. Common Sense Studio conduct a wide range of monthly workshops and masterclasses in collaboration with other artists. They also host screen printing workshops for beginners and corporations, opening up the opportunity to learn the skill of printmaking to all.
