Last week, we posted a video to our blog that discusses using Pinterest to boost engagement for your site, and since then, our help desk has been flooded with questions regarding how to integrate your Pinterest account with your DecoNetwork site, and we’re always here to help.
Pinterest has a great overall guide on the ways you can integrate Pinterest into your existing site, and we’ll reference some of their resources throughout this post. To outline exactly how to integrate your site with Pinterest, this week we’re focusing on how to properly claim your site, add those fancy “Save” buttons to your site, and integrate a Pinterest widget to your site.
How do I claim my site on Pinterest?
In DecoNetwork, the best way to claim your site on Pinterest is using their Meta Tag method. In their help article, you’ll want to follow the first five steps. Once you’ve copied the code that they provide, go to your DecoNetwork website dashboard and click on “Edit Website”, then click on “Customize Template HTML”. In both the Default and Logo Only versions of your HTML, you’ll want to find the <head> tag and paste the line of code onto a new line just below that tag, but before the </head> tag. Save and Publish your changes and you’re good to go!

How do I add Pinterest Save buttons to my images?
Even if you’re not familiar with Pinterest, you’ve probably seen those red “Save” buttons on images around the internet. Those buttons can be a huge contributor to website traffic, bringing in clients you may not have otherwise had based on cute images of decorated products, your logo, or any number of things. It’s actually incredibly simple to integrate those save buttons to your site via the HTML widget.
Start by visiting their help article here, which outlines how to get the code and choose one of the two options below to get your code, then scroll down to the next heading (Integrating it into Deco) to find where to place the code.
Option 1: More User-friendly
Visit the save button builder, and be sure to select “Image hover” to allow the buttons on all images on your site. Choose the options you’d like, and copy the code in the box.
Option 2: More Developer-friendly
Click the “Get the Save Button” button on that page, and copy the first bit of code on that page, including everything in that first black box, and make the necessary javascript changes based on the tables at the bottom of the page.
Integrating it into Deco
Now, head over to DecoNetwork, go into your website editor and scroll down to the footer. Using the HTML widget, (for details, see Advanced Widgets) drag it into the footer of your page. I generally recommend putting it at the bottom of the left-hand column in the footer, just for consistency’s sake, as it will all-but-disappear when you’ve saved the widget. Finally, paste the code into the HTML widget, save and publish the site, and you’ll see Save buttons on all of your images.
How do I embed Pinterest Widgets into DecoNetwork?
Since we’ve visited the save button builder, it’s only right to talk about the widgets you can build for Pinterest. You can integrate full boards, specific pins, a follow button for your Pinterest page, and a few other things. To get started with showing your activity on your site, visit the save button builder, just like we did in the previous question, and choose the type of widget you’d like as well as any available options. Once satisfied with your selections, copy that code into your clipboard and head over to your DecoNetwork website editor.
Wherever you would like your Pinterest widget to show up, drag the HTML widget to that location and paste the code you just copied into it. Save and publish the site, and you’ll be able to see and interact with your new widget live on your site.
This series highlights commonly asked questions among DecoNetwork clients over the past week. We will be posting some of the most common questions of the past week each Thursday with commentary and links to DecoNetwork Help Articles, videos, and other blog posts to better assist you in finding the resources you need.
