Get to know Carlos Sanchez
DecoNetwork, Sales Specialist and US Marine Corps Veteran

Carlos Sanchez to some, US Marine Corps Carlos Sanchez to others. As hinted, Carlos has a US Marine Corps background, (check!) Technology leader, (check, check!) Carlos recently joined the DecoNetwork Sales team and is up for any challenge. Welcome on board, Carlos!

Towards the end of my high school career in early January 2012, I decided that I wanted to join the military. I spoke to a few recruiters from the Navy and Airforce, but it was actually the Marines that hunted me down because my best friend mentioned I was interested in the military. Initially I thought the Marine Corps was going to be too difficult but the challenge of joining and uniforms really started to grow on me. After the recruiter bought me Wendy’s, I was hooked on the idea of becoming a Marine.

Fast forward to March 2013, I arrived at Parris Island and for the next 13 weeks I went from a slouching high school kid to a U.S Marine. Afterwards I went through some combat training in North Carolina for about a month. Then I arrived in Twenty-nine Palms, California in July 2013 to become a 5979 Tactical Data Systems Technician, over the course of 13 months I learned how to diagnose, troubleshoot, and repair communications equipment that allowed controllers to direct tactical air traffic. In August 2014 I was given orders to be stationed in Beaufort, SC at Marine Air Control Squadron – 2 Early Warning/ Control Detachment. I spent the next three and a half years stationed there until reaching the end of my enlistment in March of 2018. Beaufort, SC will always be a special place to me, it is where I got promoted to Corporal and eventually Sargent, it was also the place that really helped me mature into a man.

After being discharged from the military, I took some time off to relax and enjoy myself. In June 2018 I joined the DecoNetwork team and started working towards a degree in Computer Information Systems at Georgia State University. They have made both working and attending school full time very possible for me!
