Matt Johnstone is a Brighton based illustrator. He likes to walk or cycle to the top of The Downs. That where he usually comes up with his of ideas and future illustration projects. His Illustrations are a mix of traditional and digital techniques with a bright and optimistic colour palette.
His playful line drawings are often inspired by nature and the comedy podcasts he likes listening to as well as the comics and puzzle adventures he looked at as a boy.
Matt has painted various wall murals, usually across offices and agencies around London which was the occasion for him to explore working on live projects – working in a more fast paced environment has led him to become more instinctive.
He has drawn in numerous places and events, such as brainstorming meetings, boards for a festival and even a canvas in the departure lounge at St Pancras international.
Matt has painted various wall murals in offices and agencies around London, which led him to explore working on live art projects, drawing in a more fast-paced, instinctive way. He has been commissioned to draw in brainstorming meetings, at large-scale events, on boards at a festival, over photos via smartphones and has even painted on a canvas in the departure lounge at St Pancras international.
When Matt is not working for commissioned work he enjoys working for himself, he is learning how to make linoprints with his illustrations and spends his time doodling and sketching for our pleasure.
