B r u ï, aka Nick Booton is a designer, illustrator and printmaker. After running his self-built studio and creative co-working space in Liverpool’s Baltic Triangle for three years – which is now one of the trendiest places to be! Nick then spent a brief period of time in Berlin, where this series of print was first shown and sold before settling down in Manchester.
The origin behind these series of print was the time Nick spent living in Liverpool. Through this series, he recorded through journal entries the frustrations and struggles to make a creative living: a constant hustle. Working in a post-industrial environment lead to create “Blue Collar” with a hand print process, in the short space of one month – all printed by him.
Through this exhibition, the artist can now reflect on that period of time, that led him to move on to different places and finally settle for Manchester where he is still based now. B r u ï believes that this all helped him mature as an artist and carry on with his creative work through collaborative and self-initiated projects
