Acrylic Ink Printing
Have you heard of screen printing before? If you have, have you heard about acrylic ink printing? Screen printing done in acrylic ink is pretty different from plastisol ink, but it all depends on what you’re looking for. Printing with plastisol ink is simpler than acrylic ink because it can be reused time and time again with no negative effect, but that’s only one perspective. Plastisol ink dries stiff and when you do a lot of ink coverage it can really weigh down the garment, so it’s not ideal for every situation. That’s where acrylic ink printing can really shine because it’s softer and lighter than plastisol!
Acrylic Ink Printing
The key difference between acrylic based screen printing and plastisol ink printing is the presence of a solvent. Plastisol inks lack a solvent so they won’t dry up when exposed to the air, but acrylic ink does contain a solvent (usually water). So it sounds like you should just get plastisol ink and never have to worry, right? That’s not really the case because the downside of slacking a solvent is that it must be cured through heat which stiffens the image up and makes it feel heavier. Acrylic ink printing means thinner, more watery inks that penetrate deeper into the fabric and across the seams while remaining lightweight and soft to the touch.
Acrylic Screen Printing is perfect for all over garment designs because you can get bright color and full coverage without sacrificing comfort! Are you new to acrylic ink printing?
