Earlier this year Nathan Smith and Sam T Smith started a postcard project named ME & EU in the wake of Brexit. It aimed to provide an intimate medium for individuals to express their message in a visual manner. Many people felt that there was a big sense of division and disconnect in the weeks after said vote and this project tried to bridge the disconnect further allowing people to form a powerful and passionate voice with a touch of humour and positivity. The classic English was to deal with most things really… As Article 50 was triggered 116 of the designed postcards were mailed out across all 27 EU countries.
A couple of months down the line and ME & EU is being published in the form of a limited edition postcard book documenting the view of Brexit, via the use of perforated postcards. Keeping the dialogue between our EU neighbours open. The book itself has been printed in the UK and has been published by Common Practices.
Common Practices is an independent publishing house founded by Craig Oldham that focuses on exploring creative subcultures and communities through books and ideas. ME&EU is now up for pre-order and is due to be released on the 18th October.
