Water Based Screen Printing Ink

Water Based Screen Printing Ink

If you’re planning to create custom printed garments, do you know what type of ink you would like it to be printed in?  That’s an important question for any custom garment designer because the type of ink you use has its own advantages and disadvantages.  What works for one application might not be best suited for another design, so it’s important to know what you want and how to get it.  We at AMBRO Manufacturing are a contract apparel customization company so we have the answers you’re looking for and we have the tools to help you produce those custom designs!  Water Based Screen Printing Ink offers clients the ability to make bright and “low touch” designs on their garments.

So with screen printing, you have your choice of water based screen printing ink or plastisol screen printing ink.  Plastisol inks are great because they are affordable and can easily be reused.  Plastisol inks need to be flash heated to a specific temperature before they can cure because they won’t dry when exposed to air, which allows them to be reclaimed after a job is finished.  Water based screen printing ink on the other hand, is susceptible to drying in the air which means you’ve got to use them quick and they cannot be reclaimed.  So why not use plastisol all the time?

The reason why water based screen printing ink is gaining popularity is due to the ultra-soft hand it leaves on the shirt.  Water based inks are thinner than plastisol inks and can penetrate into the fabric further and when dried they feel like they are almost a part of the shirt!  They are lightweight which makes them ideal for all over coverage printing too.  If you are interested in trying out custom water based ink screen printing, or if you would like to learn more about our company and our services, you can contact us by email or by giving us a call at (908) 806-8337.
