“Tongass Tides” by Michaela Goade

The latest in Sally Centigrade’s ‘Travel By Screen series’, where a poster is made for a popular area code for each state. Alaska, while vast, has only one area code (907). However, due to an array of unique landscapes and indigenous cultures, the state is divided into 5 distinct regions (Far North, Interior, Southwest, Southcentral, and Southeast). This poster represents Southeast Alaska, where mountains meet sea in a thin strip of land and islands sandwiched between Canada and the Pacific ocean.

The Tongass National forest covers most of the region – a beautiful, magical rainforest full of fjords, glaciers, isolated towns and villages, and wildlife. And in this region, so much of life revolves around the symbiotic relationship between forest and ocean, a relationship that encompasses everything from tides, changing seasons, to animal migrations. This ebb & flow creates the foundation for life and culture in Southeast Alaska. On sale now HERE.
