IKEA have a new mission, ‘to make great art accessible for everyone.’ This April 2017, IKEA are launching an ART EVENT which consists of a limited edition poster collection, created by twelve carefully curated and hand-selected internationally known artists, all of which express themselves through the means of illustration. There is a highly eclectic and diverse selection of artworks for sale, with the artists involved using everything from graphite, pen and ink, crayon, charcoal, watercolour, gouache and pastel. Not only do the drawing techniques vary but so do the stories they tell and the experiences they communicate. There is certainly something for everyone.
This event will enable anyone and everyone the opportunity to invest in great art, at an equally great price, however we anticipate that these posters will be snapped up fast, so make sure you don’t miss out!
“We have a very strong and simple vision about art at IKEA, and it’s that art should be affordable — it should be accessible for the many people — and also that art belongs in the home, not just in galleries or museums,” says Henrik Most, Creative Leader for ART EVENT 2017.
The artists taking part in this years event are Jean Jullien, Micha Payer & Martin Gabriel, Amit Greenberg, Hell’o, Kevin Lyons, Koen Taselaar, Hahan, Ragnar Persson, Yasuto Sasada, Amandine Urruty, Joanna Concejo and Steven Harrington. All of the artists, which are a strong mix of well established and up-and-coming artists, have purposefully hand-drawn their artworks.
“Hand drawing is a fascinating art form, it reminds us of what it is to be human in a world driven by speedy technology and digital development” says the collection’s Creative Leader, Henrik Most. “These drawings are full of sensuality and tactility, almost leaving the fingerprint of the artist right there on the surface of the paper” continues Henrik.
This is the third instalment of ART EVENT presented by IKEA, which has become a household name over the years, having provided people all over the world with affordable and functional design.
