Treading new ground as a studio in the collaborative and curation field of design is Brighton based studio The Private Press. Most recently, the team have announced the new and exciting launch of their Editions collection. A first ever collaboration with eight leading contemporary graphic artists such as Rose Blake, Supermundane and Eelus producing a series of limited edition, hand pulled prints showcasing the very best of screen printing and its range of techniques.
The Private Press was founded by Gary Parselle in 2013, and with more than 10 years experience, Gary has worked in some of London’s most renowned graphic design and advertising agencies where he specialised in print production. Curator of Editions, Gary’s aim was to celebrate the infinite possibilities of the creative screen-printing process through one of the most valuable and certainly active processes that exist in the creative industry, collaboration.Parselle, comments: “The Editions Series is a way to showcase exactly what’s so special about screen printing. The process offers colour, texture and depth unlike any other, and these screen prints demonstrate exactly what can be achieved. Editions is the perfect way for real enthusiasts of contemporary graphic art, lovers of special inks and papers, to get their hands on hand-made, affordable, unique pieces that are sure to become collector’s items.”The complete collection consists of Adrian Johnson, Turbo Island, The Stereo-Typist, Esther Cox and Steven Wilson, Supermundane, Rose Blake and Eelus, all of which, have created exclusively new artwork for the print series. Supermundane comments: “I’m a big fan of screen printing and how physical a process it is. I’ve had the pleasure of working with The Private Press on a few projects in the past so I was excited to be asked to be involved in Editions. My print is part of my ongoing ‘You Made This’ project, which explores our fears and desires.” This is just one of many planned released, with the Studio planning to launch new Editions prints on a regular basis in 2017, continuing to collaborate more contemporary artists.
The Editions prints will be priced at £50 and £75 and available to buy online from 2nd December at: www.theprivatepress.org/shop.
