Finding that over thinking usually hinders his design process, George Greaves’ defining aesthetic is both minimal and sophisticated yet equally as powerful, as his intricate illustrations withhold high impact through the contrast and movement he expertly infuses. Influenced greatly by the simplicity and geometric forms of early modernist art, Greaves defines Matisse, Miró, De Chirico and David Hockney as major inspirations. Additionally to his solo creations, George makes up half of Printed Goods, a design and risograph studio, created in collaboration with his brother.
Situated in Bristol, Greaves attended the Bristol school of Art and also studied Illustration and Visual Communication at the University of Westminster. Since then Greaves has characterised his defining aesthetic with dual tone colour sequences, playful compositions and the infusion of symbolism.
