Xi Achievement Spotlight: Theta

All chapter related questions were answered by Lane Baumbach, Chapter President.

Earning Xi Achievement as a new chapter is an excellent feat. What do you believe contributed to your success this academic year?

“As a single-letter chapter with a history dating back to 1905, Theta Chapter is proud to be back on campus and to have seen such great growth in just our third year since our reinstallation. Our members are committed to each other and constantly strive for the betterment of the chapter. We are truly blessed with strong leaders who bring passion to each aspect of chapter life, and amazing sisters who are enthusiastic and dedicated. I believe our success this year can be attributed to our chapter’s openness to change, commitment to growth, and an incredible support system of advisors, alumnae, and Educational Leadership Consultants."

Alpha Xi Delta inspires lifelong membership. How have you utilized your local alumnae in the past year?

“In April our chapter hosted a Founders' Day brunch for the first time and enjoyed spending the afternoon with the alumnae. It was fun to put on a Founders' Day ceremony that involved both alumnae and current chapter members. During the recruitment period, alumnae came to the house to assist with recruitment activities and participate in the bid day fun!”

Sisterhood is one of the four pillars of Alpha Xi Delta. How does your chapter promote Sisterhood both in college and beyond?

“Our chapter provides a variety of opportunities for Sisters to spend time together and make new connections. Some of our favorite activities this year were snow tubing, going to a trampoline park, and hiking at Devil’s Lake State Park. Sisters also support each other academically and can often be found studying together at the library or at the house. With only a few graduating classes since our re-installation, our recent alumnae are very close to the chapter and enjoy coming back to see the new house and hangout with their grandlittles!”

You went above and beyond what was expected of you to fundraise for Autism Speaks this past year. How did you execute your AmaXIng Challenge and encourage campus involvement?

“The most exciting part of our AmaXIng Challenge this past spring was seeing Sisters collaborate to create our own unique take on an existing AmaXIng Challenge. We proudly presented the AmaXIng Challenge, Karaoke for a Cause: Xi Lip Sync Battle. Inspired by celebrity lip sync battles, Sisters had a lot of fun getting together groups of friends, fraternities, sororities, and student organizations, and seeing them compete on stage to win up to $500 towards their philanthropy of choice. The event could not have been possible without our incredible AmaXIng Challenge Chair, Abby Granite, who worked tirelessly to make Xi Lip Sync Battle a success!”

Tell us about your chapter advisor and how she has helped move the chapter forward.

“Theta Chapter is so grateful to have had a chapter advisor as committed to our success and Lindsay. She stood by the chapter through every tough decision and time of growth, always offering her best advice and guidance. Lindsay was always there to answer our questions and push us to be our best when we were unsure of ourselves because she could see the potential in each of us. Much of our success is thanks to the countless hours Lindsay committed to Theta Chapter over the year, and we are forever grateful. While we wish she could continue to advise our chapter, we are so proud of Lindsay for pursuing her career goals in her new job in Pennsylvania!”

The following question was answered by Lindsay Raclaw, formerChapter Advisor.

Why did you choose to volunteer for Alpha Xi Delta and what have you found to be most rewarding about this experience?

“My collegiate chapter, Delta Rho at Cal State Northridge, was very fortunate to have a strong group of advisors who graciously gave their time to work with us, so when I found out that Theta Chapter was being recolonized I knew I wanted to volunteer in an advisory capacity. I truly believe Alpha Xi Delta membership is for a lifetime, and volunteering is one of the ways I stay connected. The most rewarding part of my experience as a volunteer with Alpha Xi Delta is seeing the collegiate women grow as individuals and as a chapter. I see them set, work toward, and achieve the high goals they set for themselves. I see how they are utilizing skills they learn from their time in Alpha Xi Delta in their personal and professional lives. Most importantly, I see women realize their potential and know that they are making a difference not only in their chapter and campus community, but in the world.”
