Inspired by patrimony, unexplored spaces, knowledge transmission and encounters, Catherine D’Amours creates imaginative illustrative worlds infused with nostalgia and beautifully pieced together with various textures of papers she has collected over the years. Through both physical and digital processes, D’Amours overlays her charming black inked illustration studies with distinctive and minimal motifs, codifying the contrasts of texture and colours into a personal visual dictionary.
Predominantly featuring 2D forms inspired by the natural landscapes of her childhood in Trois-Pistoles and also her recent maternity, the abstract composition and unique aesthetic explore the suggestive narratives in which the reframing of present time perception is apparent.
The muted colour palette allows for the impact of alluring illustrations to shine through as they decorate various art prints, literary collections, essays, clothing and self published publications.
As well as illustration, Catherine D’Amours also explores her creative talent and delves into the worlds of graphic design and art direction. Check out her portfolio here.
