Travel Team + Good Vibes Only

Good Vibes Only

Hey Sister friends! My name is Renee Shields and I am an Educational Leadership Consultant and member of the 2016-17 Traveling Team. It’s my first month on the road and I could not be more thrilled! Even with all of my excitement, I know that it can be easy to get stressed out while on the road. Whether you’re planning recruitment, programming or starting the school year, it’s tempting to let negativity creep into your daily routine. However, it is important to always stay positive and spread heart sunshine!

Being the optimistic person that I am, I’ve decided to give y’all some tips and tricks on how to live a positive lifestyle that promotes all sorts of good vibes! When you seize the opportunity to have a positive outlook, it will be contagious and relieve stress across all aspects of your life. Here are some ways you can promote that sunny outlook on life:

  • Create an Inspirational Quote Pinterest Board
    • You would be surprised how many amaXing quotes are on Pinterest! If you pin the ones that catch your eye and truly inspire you, you can always go back to look at them when you’re feeling a little down or need some inspiration.  You can also put cool graphics on there that inspire you as well! The best part is that you can always carry it with you – yay technology! If you’re looking for somewhere to start, check out Alpha Xi Delta’s quote board for inspiration. I recommend looking at your inspiration board in the morning to give your day a kickstart.

  • Dance Party Everyday
    • If you aren’t already doing this, find songs that make you happy and use them to get you pumped! I know it sounds silly to have a dance party by yourself, but it’s great for morale. Whether it be before class, work or a meeting, having your own dance party will get your energy flowing and that energy will radiate to the people you’re around. If you don’t particularly enjoy dancing, I also highly recommend shower singing. Emma Stone Easy A style will really get you in a good mood.

  • Give Meaningful “Thank yous” and Compliments
    1. If you take anything away from this post, this tip is the most important thing to remember. When you thank someone or give them a compliment, acknowledge the value in it. The best way to do this is to say how much you love or appreciate what they’ve done, give some context to how they did it and give them well wishes for the future. By thinking through it this way, you’ll give both you and the other person the context of why you appreciate what they’ve done. This small tip can add so much more value to your life. Good karma, good vibes y’all!

I know I’ll be using these tactics on the road in order to avoid stress and keep a positive outlook!  I can’t wait to meet Sisters from all over the country over the upcoming year – maybe I’ll be coming to a chapter near you.  In any case, stay positive and keep the good vibes flowing!

XOXI, Renee
