How many times has someone come into your shop asking for a specific image to be printed on a shirt, and then pull out their phone or laptop to show you a photo?

Now, what if we told you that you could screen print photos directly from their iPhone?

Sure, in order to screen print photos and other highly detailed artwork you can use four color process printing or CMYK screen printing. However, both techniques require at least four separate screens (and a manual press that can hold all four in registration), an art or RIP program like Adobe or Separation Studio and all the other common materials needed for manual screen printing.

But, anyone doing garment printing has likely received a request to screen print photos and other highly detailed prints in a small run, and in these situations, it might not make sense to screen print because of the production and labor cost necessary to set up the job. This leaves you stuck with having to refer the job to someone else, or even turn the customer away.

1. Apply liquid PreTreat to the garment using a hand-roller or automated pretreat machine.

2. Heat-set and cure the PreTreat onto your garment using your heat press.

3. Pull up your customer’s iPhone photo in Epson’s Free Garment Creator Software, and choose my layout, pick your color settings, then hit print!

4. Heat-set the printed ink onto the garment using your heat press, and then you are done! It takes about 6 minutes from start to finish.

Tip: Pre-treating your garment can be done in advance and the garments can be stored in a tote or sealable bag until they are ready for printing.
