Colophon Foundry is an internationally acclaimed independent type foundry with offices based in London and New York. Since their establishment by London based design studio The Entente in 2009 the team have gone from strength to strength with their typefaces popping up all over the design world. Colophon Foundry’s catalogue of type specimens and products showcase their passion for all things type, not to mention their skill and dedication to the art of design and typography.
Colophon Foundry have collaborated with commercial clients and independents alike, covering a vast spectrum in the design industry on both a large and small scale. Their approach to design is refreshing and imaginative, which is one of the many reasons why we previously named them on our “15 Type Foundries You Should All Know About” list. You might also have noticed we have used their Archive and Reader typeface families throughout our Print Isn’t Dead magazine Element 001.
So of course with all that said, we were thrilled to have had the opportunity to delve into the creative minds of Colophon founders Anthony Sheret and Edd Harrington for our Posterzine™ series. Issue 09 is the latest instalment in our Posterzine™ series and features an in-depth interview with the duo by People of Print’s Anna Chayasatit, in which they discuss the early days, when they realised their love for design and typography, a typical day at work, their most successful typeface to date, the steps to creating a new typeface and the effects of travelling/working with international clients.
