Large Format Sublimation
Large Format Sublimation is a method of printing that is rather amazing. It all begins with the artwork which is a high resolution, digital file. The image is printed out of a sublimation printer which is loaded with dye cartridges that contain a special dye for this type of printing. The printer uses a specific paper that is heat resistant because the printed out image will be undergoing some intense heat and pressure during the transfer. With the image laid on top of the garment or fabric to be printed, they are put into a sublimation press and are heated and pressurized for a short time. During this time, the dye is released from the paper as a gas and it is infused into the material of the item you are printing on. After a brief cooling period, the image is permanently locked into the fabric and you are left with a long lasting, beautiful print.
Large Format Sublimation
Large format sublimation is just an extension of standard sublimation, but obviously, for items larger than a regular garment or a pair of socks. An example of item that you would use large format sublimation for would be a custom flag. An average flag is usually about 3’ by 5’ which is a size your printer may not be able to sublimate at. In order to accomplish large format sublimation, your printer must have a printer and sublimation press large enough to produce your oversized sublimated designs.
Here at AMBRO Manufacturing, we are capable of sublimating designs up to 42” by 60”! That’s enough for flags, desktop pads, play mats, and more.
