Dye Sublimation Fabric Printing
Have you ever wondered how some prints featured on clothing were possible? Things begin with Dye Sublimation Fabric Printing. Some prints are so complex or contain thousands of colors in gradation that they cannot possibly be recreated with screen printing. Even more, prints that feature portraits of people or landscapes and wildlife contain such fine details that you would not be able to register that detail on a silk screen. Why can’t regular screen printing do these kinds of prints? Since screen printing requires the use of a silk screen mesh, the holes in the mesh can only so small until they won’t allow ink to easily pass through. Because of this, ultra fine details cannot be captured if they are finer than the mesh.

So how can one achieve such amazing prints? With dye sublimation fabric printing of course! Dye sublimation fabric printing is a method of printing that starts with a high resolution image. It gets printed out onto a heat resistant paper with a printer using specialized dye cartridges. The print out is laid over the fabric to be printed and put into a sublimation press. The press applies heat and pressure for a short time. During that time, the dye on the paper is released as a gas and absorbed into the material. Once it cools, the print is permanently locked in and it’s ready to wear!
Dye sublimation fabric printing allows you to put unimaginable designs onto clothing. There’s no limit to the colors, details, or complexity of a design that dye sublimation can handle. Also, since the print is literally locked into the material, you won’t seeing cracking or peeling over time.
