Lizzy JO

Lizzy Joelson is a graphic designer based in lovely Los Angeles. She is inspired by crazy typography, modernist design, and 70s music with a love for Pin-Ups, lemons, and neon art. With a background in art and art history, Joelson solidified her love for design when studying abroad in the UK. She quickly realized that visual communication is her jam. “Design creatively connects the world, and that’s incredible” Joselen tells us.

Aesthetically, the designer’s main influence is Andy Warhol. He was her first love, and it wasn’t until recently that Joelsen realized how prominent his work was in influencing her own personal style. Although Joelson mentions her love for Warhol, with perfect repetition being the main element featured in some of his famous work, Joelson loves the concept of imperfection. Many of her designs are hand drawn and are a little off in some way. She also loves to play with bright, popping colours, currently obsessed with fluorescent green and yellow. The neon signs around Los Angeles are understandable a huge informant of this obsession, strip clubs and motels line the streets with their looming huge neon signs. Joelson is currently working on a project that documents these designs, and we can’t wait to see the final result.
